"Plays Well With Others" ONLY $25.00
A percussion workshop by
Musician & Songwriter Annie Wenz. This hands on workshop promises to
be both fun & educational. This will be very different than a drum
circle. Annie will be teaching all sorts of snazzy hand techniques & rhythm
tricks & tools. How to hit the drum to get different luscious tones. How to
find "rhythm spaces" so you may create your own funky parts that compliment
the grooves others play. How to get really cool sounds with NON drums!
No prior knowledge required. For adults or mature
young people...
and particularly GREAT for teachers!

Silk Painting Workshop - "Sertianly Silky"
March 7th from 1:00 to 4:30
Michigan based, fiber Artist Nancy Carey
is offering a Silk Painting Workshop to teach the art of Serti in the
courtyard at Koucky Gallery and Gardens on Sunday, March 7th, from 1:00 to
4:30.
The Serti (meaning to close or fence) technique is the silk painting
technique where designs are formed by applying water-based resists to silk
fabric. The resist acts as a barrier for the colored dye applied within the
outlined areas of the design creating a well defined pattern. Without this
barrier, the dye would flow into more of an abstract, undefined pattern.
Using this method of silk painting, workshop participants will create a
piece of wearable art. Different methods of adding texture to your piece
using salt, sugar, and alcohol will be demonstrated as well as color mixing
and diffusing. Supplies will be provided. No prior experience is necessary.
Cost of this workshop is $70.00 including materials. For more
information, please call Koucky Gallery and Gardens.
